Brouilly is the largest and furthest south of the Beaujolais crus. It has a good southeastern exposure, at the bottom of the Saône Valley at an altitude of 200 to 300 metres. The subsoil consists of granite debris and blue-tinged schist.
The Beaujolais nouveau experience, represented by the wonderful catchphrase « The same day, at the same time, all around the world » is so famous, that for 50 years, it has tended to overshadow great crus and terroirs, even making us virtually forget some truly outstanding crus.
Today, new pages of history are being written, as fine crus and terroirs once again come to the forefront Beaujolais Nouveau tasting will remain a joyous and festive occasion, an absolute must on the third Thursday in November every year; but traditional crus will once again set off to win over the world, with more structured wines, full of fruity and mineral flavours. These crus are more modern and easier to understand. They go well with most of the world’s cuisines. Wines for friendship, wines that are pure pleasure.
